(ages 11 - 13)

Our Family Support System

Ways our family members can support one another:

  • Tell someone in your family how you are feeling.
  • Listen when others are telling you how they are feeling.
  • Give time and space to ease strong emotions. This may include time-out.
  • Show your love and support by displaying affection for one another. "A hug a day helps keep the blues away."
  • Recognise each others' efforts and accomplishments by saying,
    "Well done" or "Good try" or "I'm proud of you because…"
  • Have agreed routines, rewards and punishments.
  • Spend time together as a family and enjoy each other's company.
  • If you are unable to cope, seek advice, help, and support from your extended family, friends, and helping agencies.
